Sport is one of the most vital and most enduring foundations for the solid development of young people. We lend our support to sport because it prepares our children, both physically and mentally, to properly grow within society and to cope with any dangers by employing proper standards and behaviour.
 
CYPRUS OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

Since 2007 the Bank of Cyprus has been the Major Sponsor of the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC). The Bank is proud to be able to contribute to supporting Cyprus' athletes in their efforts in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, reinforcing the Olympic ideals and implementing their philosophy which turns theory into practice, and words into actions.
 
The Bank of Cyprus, in collaboration with the COC, took photographs of twelve Cypriot athletes who were members of the Cyprus Pre-Olympic and Olympic Team. These excellent photographs now adorn the Bank of Cyprus Group's 2008 Diary. At the end of 2007 an impressive event was organised at the Olympic Building where photographs and the diary were presented to the public. During the course of the event, 85 large, framed photographs were sold for £400 (€685) each. The revenue from the sales was donated to the COC.
 
In the summer of 2009 the Games of the Small States of Europe will be organised in Cyprus and the Bank of Cyprus, once again, is wholeheartedly supporting the immense effort being made by the COC to organise the Games and to promote our country abroad.

For the last eight years, Bank of Cyprus has also been sponsoring eight football teams in the Greek community of Australia.
