Introduction to Digipass Devices

Bank of Cyprus, continuously upgrades the security offered through its Direct Banking Channels. As a result, it has now introduced an additional level of security regarding third party transactions, namely, a Digipass Device. This device will be used for transfers to third parties  (through internet and telephone banking).

The Digipass device, generates one-time dynamic codes, which are used together with the Subscriber Number and PIN.

The implementation of the digipass technology will enhance the already high level of security of Direct Banking without requiring the installation of any software or hardware on the subscriber's systems.

There are two types of electronic devices, both of which are user friendly. They operate on battery, which has a life of approximately 3-5 years.(Once the battery runs out, you must provide yourself with a new digipass device).

  1. The Digipass Device 0550 - for accessing (sign on) to Direct Banking channels, for third party transfers and for fax instructions to the branch
  2. The new Digipass Go 3 - third party transfers only.

Thus, you may choose the device suitable to your needs.

Please note that as of 12/12/2005 the use of the Digipass device (any one of the two) is required for all third party transfers (excluding payment of utility bills).

1. Digipass Go 3

The device is small and light enabling you to keep it with you at all times. It may even be used as a keyring. It generates one-time dynamic codes at the push of a button. It is used only for third party transactions (payments, transfers etc) together with your Subscriber Number and PIN.

The use of this device protects you from any attempt by a third party who gains access to your Subscriber Number and PIN, to transfer money from your accounts. This is achieved by preventing any transfer to a third party without the insertion of the 6-digit code generated by the Digipass.

On the other hand, the Digipass device cannot be used on its own, so even if you misplace it and a third party gains access to it, it cannot by used without your Subscriber Number and PIN.

The cost of this device is CYP5.- (EUR8.-). In order to receive the device, please complete and sign the relevant application form.

How to use the device Digipass Go 3

2. Digipass 0550

The device generates one-time dynamic codes. As with GO 3, this cannot be used by any other subscriber either.

The subscriber may use the device for:

  • Signing on to Direct Banking channels (internet, telephone & wap banking)

  • Or both of the above
  • for fax instructions (through the servicing branch).

The cost of the device is CYP25.- (EUR40.-). In order to receive the device please complete and sign the relevant application.
