Latest Fraud Scams

  • The most common form of fraud today is Phishing. Although it has different variations this type of fraud relates to the receipt of an SMS with fraudulent links prompting you to provide your Internet Banking credentials, One Time Passwords (OTPs), Verification Codes (VCs), your Card data etc. Do Not click, Do Not respond!

  • Fraudsters send deceptive Emails, SMS messages with links or call, pretending you are entitled to a subsidy or a tax/social insurance “refund”.  They ask for your Internet Banking credentials, One Time Passwords (OTPs), Verification Codes (VCs), your Card data etc, allegedly to “credit” your account.  In reality, by responding, you give them access to debit your account!

  • Fraudsters are sending realistic-looking SMS messages with links , pretending to be from Bank of Cyprus, threatening to block accounts, cancel cards, or stop payments in order to trick you into clicking a link and provide your 1bank login credentials, One Time Passwords (OTPs), Verification Codes (VCs), your Card details etc

    👉 Bank of Cyprus will NEVER send you SMS messages containing link.

  • Fraudsters contact you offering highly realistic fake  investment opportunities, such as investing in cryptocurrencies, offering guaranteed, or extremely  high returns in a very short period of time. Usually, they contact you by phone or on social media platforms, advertising fake investments and trying to convince you to invest your money.

  • Fraudsters use deepfake technology (AI) to create convincing video clips of a Bank’s Executive endorsing a FAKE Investment app. The videos often appear professional, showing the “executive” endorsing high-return schemes or exclusive investment opportunities. These clips are circulated through social media, phishing emails, and messaging apps to lure victims.
