Christodoula march 2023

The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and the Bank of Cyprus invite everyone to “Be There” at the 48th  Christodoula march.

For the 48th consecutive year the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and Bank of Cyprus are co-organising the Christodoula March. Other than raising awareness about cancer, the event also serves as a fundraiser to help the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society keep providing palliative care for free to thousands of cancer patients and their families.

The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and Bank of Cyprus invite the Cypriot public, known for its sensitivity, to join the fight against cancer by supporting all the events during the Christodoula March, playing their part in this noble and charitable cause and enabling the continued free provision of palliative care to our fellow human beings affected by cancer.

The Christodoula March will be held on Sunday, 9 April at 10:30 a.m., in all districts of Cyprus.

In Nicosia, it starts from the 'Arodafnousa' Palliative Care Centre. In Limassol it starts from the Molos of Limassol (Yellow Cafe). In Larnaca it starts from the platform on the Finikoudes promenade. In Famagusta it starts from Dherynia Municipality.  Lastly, in Paphos it starts from the Paphos Municipality.

The March of Christodoulas will be framed by the campaign to financially support the services of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association from March 27 to April 9 with fundraisers at various points as well as a road fundraiser on April 6.

The Bank of Cyprus has been a loyal ally of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association for 25 years, standing firmly by the Association and strongly and substantially supporting its every action. The campaign is supported by SupportCY, while the "antamoivi" Card Reward Scheme of the Bank of Cyprus, strengthens the work of the Association, offering €0.05 to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association for every transaction in the businesses of the antamoivi Scheme.

At a press conference for the announcement of the Christodoula march, the President of the Board of Directors of the Anti-Cancer Association Dr. Adamos Adamou, emphasized that the development of medicine, prevention and early diagnosis, now allow us to reject terms such as "incurable disease" or "curable disease" when talking about cancer. "Many forms of cancer can be cured and patients, although they will go through a difficult journey, what they need is for us to be there, next to them, with respect, love and care.

For this reason, our campaign messages are changing this year. That's why we invite everyone to be there! To be there in the Christodoula march. To be there next to cancer patients. To be there for Health Professionals who tirelessly provide valuable support services. To be there, with us, supporting the charity work of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association".

In his greeting, Dr. Haris Pouangare, Deputy CEO & Director of Business Activities of the Bank of Cyprus, emphasized that "our concern for the issues of cancer patients does not begin today or end on April 9, 2023 with the realization of the Christodoula March". "Our offer and support is consistent and year-round" he pointed out, adding that "we stand by you in this fight against cancer".

"A common goal through this campaign is to inform and raise awareness of the disease of cancer and of course the financial support of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, in order to continue to upgrade and offer all services free of charge to every patient with cancer experience at the "Arodafnousa" Palliative Care Center in Nicosia and at the "Evagorio" Palliative Care Center in Limassol," he noted.
