Young Voices Ask
The programme “Young Voices Ask” is a successful initiative that was implemented with great success in previous years but was paused due to the pandemic.
It consists of a series of public debates aimed at giving students the opportunity to freely express their opinions and ask questions to various personalities from politics, business and social life.
The first guest of the first cycle, in November 2023, was Panicos Nicolaou, the CEO of Bank of Cyprus, who met with high school students and answered their pressing questions about interest rate hikes, digital transformation and digital products, the “green” economy, ESG strategies and more.
In February 2024, the next guest was the President of the Republic of Cyprus, where students “interrogated” him on issues related to the Cyprus problem, the labour market, tackling corruption, education, energy, addressing inflation and housing.
In April 2024, the “hot seat” of the programme was taken by the President of the House of Representatives, who answered the children’s questions and encouraged them to believe in and defend democracy, urging them to actively participate in public affairs and voice their opinions.
In December 2024, the Attorney General of the Republic was hosted, who also answered multiple questions from the children about the country's legal framework on various issues.
He also noted that "It is beneficial for such events to be held with other officials, so that young people have the opportunity to see in person the people for whom they usually have a picture of what they read or what they see on TV. To be seen and to have the opportunity to ask you questions is very important."
From 2025 onwards, the "Young People Ask" action evolved into a more dynamic action called "Young People Ask and Provide Solutions". You can find more here.
