Bank of Cyprus Among the World’s Top Banks

Bank of Cyprus has been ranked among the world’s top-performing banks, according to Forbes’ inaugural annual «World's Top Performing Banks 2026» ranking, compiled in collaboration with market research company Statista.

The Bank ranked 19th among 102 medium-sized (Tier 4) banks worldwide and is the only Cypriot bank included on the list.

It is also worth noting that Bank of Cyprus was the only bank in the Greek and Cypriot market represented in the Tier 4 category.

The ranking, which includes 500 banks from 89 countries, was based exclusively on objective financial data.

Banks were assessed on four key criteria: profitability (30%), growth and earnings quality (20%), capital and funding resilience (25%), and asset quality and efficiency (25%). They were divided into six categories according to total assets, ensuring comparisons were made between institutions of a similar size and profile.

Bank of Cyprus was included in Tier 4, comprising medium-sized banks with total assets of between US$20 billion and US$50 billion.
